Computer Scientist/Software Engineer

Job Description:

COMPUTER SCIENTIST/SOFTWARE ENGINEER for the US Army, Armament Research Development and Engineering Center, Firing Tables and Ballistics Division, Ballistics Software Engineering Team, located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

The mission of the Ballistics Software Engineering Team is the development of ballistics and fire control software used in weapons systems fielded by the US Army. The Ballistics Software Engineering Team is a small team of 6 members responsible for the complete life cycle of software products from design through fielding. Team members perform a wide variety of tasks related to software engineering:

  1. Software design
  2. Coding
  3. Testing
  4. Documentation
  5. Configuration Management

A variety of computer languages are used, including Ada, C++, C, FORTRAN and XML.

Candidates for this position should be proficient in software engineering with interest in scientific and technical applications. A strong background in physics/mathematics is also beneficial but not required. A Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field is required. US citizenship is required for this position.
